How Meno handles information

Privacy

Draft for owner review, not yet a published privacy notice. Before inviting testers through this site or linking this page from Google sign-in, the operator must confirm its identity and contact address, the effective date, cloud backup and operational-log retention, processor terms, and the installed app's account deletion flow.

Meno is a Mac app for capturing and developing thoughts. This draft describes the current invited-tester app, its account service, and this website. The planned Ambient work-session recorder is not included in the current beta.

Google sign-in

When you choose Continue with Google, Google supplies basic account identity information through Amazon Cognito, including an account identifier and email address, and profile information if supplied. Meno uses this to sign you in and connect your Mac to your account. Meno does not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, or Google contacts. You must sign in before opening a collection on a new Mac.

What you choose to add

Meno stores the thought text, changes, replies, imported text, and materials you save. Images, recordings, and transcripts that you explicitly attach can also be saved with a thought and synced to the account service. Spoken capture is transcribed on the Mac; its temporary microphone audio is not uploaded as a recording. That is separate from a recording you choose to attach, which Meno can send to the model for inspection when you ask it to work with that recording.

Ambient View observes a single window you choose while observation is enabled. Screen frames are processed on the Mac for text recognition; Meno does not upload a continuous screen recording. Accepted text excerpts, the chosen app and window identifiers, and the window title can be sent to the account service for possible connections. Submitted excerpts remain there until you remove the source or account; no automatic service expiry has been established. A limited encrypted queue of unsent excerpts on the Mac expires after 24 hours. The planned work-session recorder is separate and will need this notice reviewed before it is released.

How the app uses and stores it

Saved local data is encrypted on your Mac. After sign-in, Meno can save captures offline and automatically sync them when the connection returns. The account service uses Amazon Cognito for sign-in, Cloudflare for its API and private files, and Neon PostgreSQL for account records. Meno sends relevant thought context and selected materials to OpenAI for model work, which can include text, image, audio, or interactive material. An exploration you start may use public web search only when you allow it or provide a public topic. The web-enabled request receives a gated public topic rather than your private thought text. Model output can be saved with the thought so you can reopen it.

This website does not ask for an account or collect thought content. It has no Meno analytics script. Its hosting provider may process request metadata and keep operational logs; the exact retention period needs owner confirmation.

Your choices

You can sign out, remove individual saved items, export your work, or start cloud account deletion in the app. Exports are unencrypted ZIP files saved where you choose, so keep them in a private location. Signing out closes the collection until you sign in again; it does not erase work saved on this Mac. Cloud account deletion is designed to remove active account content and private files before deleting the sign-in identity. Local thoughts, drafts, and unsynced work remain on the Mac for you to export or remove separately. Backup copies and provider logs may remain for their applicable retention periods. The full hosted deletion journey still needs a distributed-app check before release.

Owner decisions needed before publication: Give the operator name, effective date, support and deletion-request contact, exact backup and operational-log retention periods, and reviewed processor terms. Verify the distributed app's cloud deletion and local-copy guidance.
